Isolation Cocktails at home by Occasion Bar Co

[AD – Gifted] I was kindly gifted a cocktail delivery box in exchange for sharing my experience on social media, but I’m under no obligation to post – just thought it was nice content!

Cocktails delivered straight to your door to make at home? YES PLEASE!

I am 100% a cocktail lover and whenever I go to one of Northamptonshire’s bars, my usual tipple is a gin cocktail, a fancy schmancy cocktail with all the bells and whistles, or usually, a Pornstar Martini goes down well too.

So when Siobhan asked whether we would like a cocktail box delivered to our door – I obviously jumped at the chance! It’s a brilliant way to keep the residents of Northamptonshire and beyond entertained and quenched!

We’ve been feeling pretty bored obviously with the same ol’ routine, so it was nice to have a full experience delivered to our door to shake things up – literally!

Siobhan came to our house, knocked on the door and left the box perfectly placed on our doorstep and distanced herself from us to follow to the new government rules – obviously, it was lovely to briefly say hello and we were ready to have our cocktail evening!

The box was pretty big, but not too heavy to carry and bring inside. She also left us a plastic container full of ice which we put straight in the freezer too.

She has thought of absolutely everything for these isolation cocktail boxes, as the box was filled with all the equipment and ingredients needed for our cocktail making – from the shaker, measurer, cocktail strainer, to the glasses, right down to the garnishes!

It also came with a really easy laminated instruction card on how to make each cocktail, which was really easy to follow – I didn’t expect to make professional bar drinks like my favourite bars do, but I was really surprised at the results…

The first cocktail we made was a Mojito, which isn’t usually what I choose as I’m not a massive rum drinker, but I’ll certainly try everything.

I loved how intricate, yet easy this was to make and I never knew you had to squash lime and brown sugar together to make a Mojito – it was like going on a learning journey as we had fun making these cocktails.

I had some nerves in shaking the cocktail shaker, but turns out, once you ensure it’s fully fit, you’re good to go and our Mojitos tasted lovely and refreshing and not too strong than I thought they’d be!

I think I have now found a new love for Mojito!

The second we made was a Strawberry Daiquiri and that was relatively straightforward and required less steps than the Mojito did and finally, probably the one I was most excited for was the Pornstar Martini as this is a tipple I find myself drinking most often – both cocktails didn’t disappoint and Josh and I found ourselves really bonding over the experience.

But both tasted as though it was made for us professionally, so we were pretty stoked that we had made these ourselves!

The fact it’s ideal for two people meant we both had a go at making our cocktails, which gave us both a sense of pride.

Once we were finished with our cocktail making, all we had to do was pack it all away again for the Occasion Bar Co team to collect the next day. As it was a Friday Bank Holiday, I was able to leave our box on our doorstep which was very convenient!

Overall, this was such a fun way to spend an evening compared to the usual routine we have seen ourselves doing for the past few weeks and it meant we could do an activity as a couple together… plus, we REALLY enjoyed drinking cocktails on a Thursday evening!

The Occasion Bar Co are currently offering their Isolation Cocktail Boxes at £45 per box but they do require a £20 deposit to ensure safe return (collection) of the equipment and glassware.

Delivery covers a 25 mile radius free of charge from Corby but they can quote for delivery for further afield.

To book one or to enquire, email contact@occasionbarco.co.uk or pop them a DM on Instagram.

I’ve seen this talked about a few times and I’m determined to try it myself now, especially as I love Mojitos! At first I thought it was a little pricey but with how much you get – plus the actual experience of making the cocktails yourself – the price is definitely worth it. Plus cocktails are so expensive these days anyway! I love all the unique ideas independent businesses are putting together at the moment to keep people entertained at home. Like you said – it’s a great bonding experience.
