Why I love The Shack, Barton Le Clay

Eeek this is exciting! My first Bedfordshire foodie blog post!

In case you missed the news, I’ve recently moved from Northamptonshire to Bedfordshire which means my navigating the county and everything local has expanded a bit!

But my love affair for this particular place started way before I moved to the area.

That place is… The Shack!

Nestled in the idyllic village of Barton Le Clay, The Shack is a quaint and charming café that offers a delightful dining experience for visitors and locals. You’d miss it if you didn’t know where it was located, but if you haven’t visited already, it’s got cute cafe vibes but the food is INSANE.

So, what exactly does The Shack offer? Here are just a few of the things that make this café so special:

Fresh and locally sourced ingredients

At The Shack, the team is committed to using only the freshest and highest quality ingredients in their dishes. They source many of their ingredients from local suppliers, ensuring that everything is as fresh and tasty as possible.

And you can tell: everything is cooked on site even when we’ve pre-ordered a big work lunch before, everything is always piping hot.

Delicious food and drinks

Whether you’re looking for a hearty breakfast, a light lunch, or a sweet treat to indulge in, The Shack has something to suit all tastes.

Their menu features a range of classic dishes, such as a full English breakfast or a classic bacon sandwich, as well as more unique options like their popular Shakshuka and Vegan Breakfast.

Their drinks menu is equally impressive, with a range of artisan coffees, loose leaf teas, and refreshing smoothies and shakes on offer.

I’ve only managed to try a few items on the menu but I really, REALLY want to visit for brunch one day!

Cute cafe decor

Located in a charming brick building, The Shack is the perfect place to enjoy a peaceful and relaxing meal.

In the warmer months, you can sit outside and soak up the sunshine, surrounded by the picturesque countryside.

My favourite Shack food item is…

The Don Le Clay burger is the winner (so far) for me.

Also the chips are crispy, salty and peppery and just… perfection!

I will try my best to diversify my taste and go for something else on the menu very soon!

So if you want my first Bedfordshire foodie recommendation, The Shack in Barton Le Clay is a wonderful café that offers delicious food and drinks, beautiful surroundings, and friendly and welcoming staff.

Whether you’re looking for a leisurely breakfast or lunch with friends, a romantic dinner date, or a special event to attend, The Shack has such a nice vibe!

Plus, I hear they’re opening a new Shack in Biggleswade – I can’t wait to check it out!
