It’s spoopy Pumpkin season! Yaaassss!!
I think everyone I know is raving about how excited they are for this type of year: warm cosy blankets, hot drinks (hello Pumpkin Spice Lattes!) candles and of course, Pumpkins!
It’s such an Instagram cliche, isn’t it? Going to a Pumpkin Patch for the ‘gram and getting that seasonal content – I can’t talk, as this whole post is filled with photos taken by the absolute beauty that is Khandie Photography!
She makes me look and feel good!
But I thought I would take advantage of these seasonal pics by writing a blog post in case you’re looking to PYO Pumpkins in Northamptonshire. We are blessed with some lovely pumpkin patches in Northamptonshire, as well as some lovely local farm shops which supply them too!
So whether you fancy getting down and dirty in a pumpkin patch, getting that photo memory of a lovely day out, or if you just wanna go somewhere local and independent in Northamptonshire to pick one up without the mess – I’ve got you covered!
So here is where you can pick your own pumpkins in Northamptonshire!
Overstone Grange Farm
The lovely folk at Overstone Grange Farm are back again with their PYO Pumpkin patch which takes place at their family farm at Overstone Grange, near Moulton.
And it’s where you are seeing all these lovely photos that Khandie took of me as they were kindly offering photographers early access to take photos of the Pumpkin’s prior to when the event officially opened.
They spend months growing their pumpkins and the event is usually a big hit with locals, as the farm offers masses of space which helps with the social distancing regulations.
On the day, there will be coffee provided by Brew, as well as a local Market Harborough based ice cream vendor for your refreshments, plenty of Pumpkins to pick and take home with you and a cute hay bale maze for the little ones.
They also have SEN/Quiet Days for those who may struggle with big crowds. There is now a booking system and you will need to book in advance before visiting the farm. Grab your tickets here.
I managed to pick a few which I’ll be using for decoration outside, as well as some for a few recipes I have in mind to try!
Find them on Overstone Grange Farm, Kettering Road, Northampton, NN3 7XA
Bell Plantation
If you wanna skip picking them yourself from a patch, Bell Plantation has been known for having some in stock in their farm shop which offers a variety of local produce for the season.
They are also known for going all out with their Autumnal and Halloween decorations too!
But if you really don’t fancy picking your own pumpkin or carving one this year, there’s lots of faux pumpkins you can choose from inside the shop too!
Find them on Watling Street, Towcester, NN12 6GX.
Saxby’s Cider
They don’t just do cider but they are known for also providing Northamptonshire and the surrounding counties a beautiful pumpkin patch on their family farm, in Wellingborough.
Saxby’s Cider family-run business marks home at Grange Farm, based in Farndish in Wellingborough and is very welcoming throughout the year for their various Cidery tours, plus their Apple Day party and of course, their PYO Pumpkin event!
I visited for the first time last year and you wouldn’t believe how big the field is, so there’s no worry about not being able to socially distance yourself but also there are plenty to pick!
Their PYO Pumpkin event starts on Saturday 17th October and you can book your tickets here for £2.50 which includes entry and parking for one car.
If pumpkins aren’t your thing, you can also sign up to volunteer to help pick apples for their cider!
Find them on Grange Farm, Irchester Road, Farndish, Wellingborough, NN29 7HJ
Smiths Farm Shop
Don’t you just love a farm shop!?
I love this Smiths Farm Shop as if you didn’t know where it was, you’d miss it, but it’s such a hidden gem which provides a lovely cafe, a farm shop that’s dedicated to supporting and stocking local produce.
They are a retailer that stocks quality fresh farm food and fine country produce, but they are also an ideal location to grab your Pumpkins!
They have been growing them for 30 years and they’ve kept with the tradition of hosting their Pick Your Own event where you can also pick up their range of squashes, such as butternuts, crown prince and little gems.
It’s unknown whether their event is happening this year, so I will keep you updated!
Find them at West View Farm, Brampton Lane, Chapel Brampton, NN6 8AA.
West Lodge Farm Park
The Dee Family has been farming at West Lodge for 3 generations and offers a family fun-filled Halloween Spooktacular PYO Pumpkin event at their award-winning farm park which offers acres of walks and nature trails too!
Their event runs from 17th October to 1st November and spaces are limited due to social distancing measures.
There are limited spaces this year, however, they do have some spaces later on in the afternoon and have plenty of sessions to choose from during the week.
But expect a field full of pumpkins with plenty of scare friends to say hello to!
Find them on Back Lane, Desborough, NN14 2SH
Wappenham Farm
If you’re local to Towcester, Wappenham Farm a great place to grab your Pumpkins!
They have their very own dedicated Pumpkin shop which is combined with their annual Christmas shop too (which is another thing you should check out!) and they have lots of seasonal activities to get involved with whilst you pick your pumpkins!
This year, the farm is open until 31st October where you can navigate (ha!) your way through their Maize maze, follow their spooky trail and you can check out their wonderful shop which also serves food and drink too.
They also have an extra spooky Halloween Barn which is full of carving kits, halloween decorations and other twinkly additions to give your home a spoopy touch!
Plus, they have a Christmas shop!
Find Wappenham Farm at Rectory Farm, Wappenham, Towcester, NN12 8SQ and will be open between 10am – 5pm
I hope you’re excited for all things Autumn, Pumpkin picking and Halloween as much as I am!
Please share your own Pumpkin picking photos with me using #NavigatingNorthants on Instagram – I can’t wait to see your pics!
Lovely photos! I am so excited to pick out pumpkins this year 🙂
